The Audience Sucks
The Audience doesn’t just consume content, it sucks.
While the title of this newsletter might seem cheekily self-assured, this venture is about celebrating the art of content creation and the realities we face every day as creators. As a producer knee-deep in the world of digital media, I know that, yes, audiences can be a mixed bag and platform trends can feel like a moving target. But this isn’t the space for griping; instead, it’s a place to dive headfirst into the fascinating, constantly shifting terrain of audience consumption habits, aiming to shed light on how we can make creative choices that actually work — despite endless platform “innovations,” unpredictable algorithms, and ever-changing aspect ratios.
This is also my first brave attempt at the awful world of “thought leadership,” so let’s see where this goes. Expect some inevitable missteps, possible misquotes, and yes, a bit of AI assistance as I distill my experiences in content into useful, digestible insights. It’s a way for us to navigate today’s digital content world together, balancing the magic of storytelling with practical, grounded approaches that respond to a wildly dynamic landscape. This newsletter is all about exploring the trends, data, and storytelling shifts driving today’s viewing habits, so expect to get your hands dirty with us as we dive into the craft of content creation in the streaming era.
So if any of this resonates with you at all, and you’re interested in content, audiences and viewer habits, why not subscribe to this newsletter - it’s free, always and forever.
Thanks
Alex
